Basin Types

Criterion Imports offers a variety of basin types to complement your décor and fit virtually any countertop.

Each of our basins has a 4" neck with a 1 5/8" opening at the bottom of the sink that accommodates any standard American drainpipe. In addition, the neck:

  1. Strengthens the base of the sink for the plumbing connection.
  2. Allows the plumber to tighten the drainpipe connection without fear of breakage.
  3. Serves as a mounting bracket when the sink is used as a vessel, allowing the installer to adhere the sink directly to the countertop surface without any additional hardware.

DROP-IN (SELF-RIMMING)

The drop-in sink is the predominant installation for American bathrooms. Installed from the top of the counter, it sits down in the opening with the outside lip resting on the top of the counter.

VESSEL

The vessel style is a free-standing sink, designed to rest on top of the countertop. Each of our Criterion sink designs has a 4" diameter neck that serves as a mounting bracket and is cut into the top of the countertop.

UNDER-MOUNT

An under-mount sink is mounted below the countertop surface, which comes to the very inside edge of the basin. The flat-surface lip securely adheres to the underside with both adhesives and mechanical fasteners.

SEMI-RECESSED

A semi-recessed sink is designed to sit partially in and partially out of the countertop. Two Criterion sinks, Kamer and Rana, have an accent line which divides the sink, making them easily semi-recessible, while the Ayfer, also used as a semi-recessed sink, has no accent line.
